Sweater razors or de-pillers are really handy to have because when wool is worn overtime it tends to pill. Pilling refers to the fibers that have escaped the plies of the yarn and form small balls on the surface of knitted fabric. Sometimes superwash wool pills less than non-superwash yarn, but even then it is still likely to happen.
Given that it is unavoidable with most wool yarns, it is completely normal to have to de-pill knitwear. I often find that I have to spot-check my sweaters with my hands each time I wear them and then use a sweater razor a couple times a year. Taking the pills off of knitwear is a great way to spruce it up between washes!
