This hot waterbottle cover is one of the few items I have knit using my handspun yarn. I chose to use this specific yarn for the cover because of the fiber type. The wool that I used to spin this yarn coarse and rustic, making it really durable but not next-to-skin soft. Although this is not a high-wear item, I liked the idea of this cover being study and durable.
When I spun the yarn for the cover, I spun it so that the colors would self-stripe. Not only is self-striping yarn fun to work with, but it also saves me from having to weaving in ends if I were to make the stripes by alternating yarns. Although a cover is not necessary for hot water bottles, having one makes it look cute as well as softening the heat from the waterbottle.
