Harriet Sweater

$600.00

  • Size: L
  • Color: grey, tan, peach
  • Fiber content: Shetland wool and mohair

I knit this sweater using michigan-local yarn. The grey and tan yarn are made of wool grown on a farm in Boyne City, MI. The grey yarn is from a sheep named scooter and the tan yarn is from a sheep named Nicole, both are shetland sheep. Shetland wool makes a yarn that is a little rustic and has a beautiful shine. The peach colored yarn is from Angora goats that are raised is Suttons Bay, MI. The fiber from angora goats is called mohair and it is known for its softness.

The stitch technique that I used in this sweater is called colorwork, and it is done by using multiple colors of yarn in the same round to create a pattern with color. This sweater my first colorwork sweater. I am really happy with the way this sweater turned out and it feels extra special that it was made with local yarn.

*note: This project was knit using the Harriet Sweater pattern by LeKnit. All pattern rights belong to them and the garment made from their pattern is only on this website as a class project and will not be actually be sold.
